Board of Equalization

Property owners who believe their property has been incorrectly valued or classified are strongly encouraged to first contact the Johnson County Assessor’s Office at (660) 747-9822 to request an informal review prior to pursuing a formal appeal. If an informal review is not chosen or does not resolve the concern, property owners may file an appeal with the Board of Equalization.

Appeal forms are available below or through the County Clerk’s Office at (660) 747-6161.

Appeal Deadline: Monday, July 14, 2025 – 4:30 p.m. (second Monday in July)

Completed appeal forms and all supporting evidence must be delivered to the County Clerk’s Office by email at clerk@jocomo.gov or to 301 W. Market Street, Suite 106, Warrensburg, MO 64093 by the deadline.

The Board of Equalization will convene at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025, at the Johnson County Commission Office, located at 301 W. Market Street, Suite 105 (formerly the Reese School) in Warrensburg, Missouri.
