Registering to Vote

If you would like to register to vote in Johnson County, you may do so by completing the Missouri Voter Registration Application.
You may register in person, or get a mail-in application at the Johnson County Clerk's Office. 
Online registration is currently unavailable.

To be eligible to register to vote you must:

1. Be a U.S. Citizen
2. Be a Missouri resident
3. Be at least 17 1/2 years of age (must be 18 to vote)
4. Not be adjudged incapacitated by a court of law
5. Not be confined under a sentence of imprisonment
6. Not be on probation or parole after conviction of a felony, until finally discharged
7. Not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor connected with the right of suffrage

*Please note that the last day to register pertains to individuals that are not currently registered in Johnson County.  If you are a registered voter of Johnson County,  you can make any changes, such as address or name change, up to and including election day.

Chapters 105 and 130 of the Revised Missouri Statutes cover the campaign finance disclosures and further specify rules governing support and opposition of election issues.   Please refer to these chapters for specific guidance.

Although every citizen has the right to free speech there are rules governing printed materials.  Any person publishing, circulating, or distributing any printed matter relative to any candidate for public office or any ballot measure shall on the face of the printed matter identify in a clear and conspicuous manner the person who paid for the printed matter with the words “Paid for by” followed by the proper identification of the sponsor.
